Sustainability and Responsibility Governance
Building a favourable reputation takes time but can be quickly dismantled. For a company nearing its 100th anniversary, the stakes are high. Systematic work on sustainability, responsible practices, and a focus on health, safety, and environment (HSE) is an ongoing effort, alongside commercial success. Our goal is that no one should be injured or become ill at work, and we aim to contribute to better health and well-being for all our employees and hired partners. We strive to mitigate negative environmental impacts of our operations, and Nasta aims to be a serious and responsible employer, partner, and community member.
By utilizing risk assessments, safe job analyses, due diligence, and materiality analyses, we seek to gain an overview and understanding that underpins our work. Responsibility and seriousness are company values at Nasta. All our employees and hired personnel have contractual employment conditions. We prefer to collaborate with companies that share our values or that we can aspire to match in quality. We comply with laws, regulations, and public mandates, and adhere to trade restrictions. The machinery and equipment Nasta supplies are CE-marked and equipped with user manuals following risk assessments conducted according to applicable standards. Nasta assists with documented product-specific training for customers and drivers.
To measure ourselves against objective criteria, Nasta is certified as an Eco-Lighthouse and is part of the Achilles networks StartBANK, TransQ Nordic, and Utilities UNCE. Nasta is an accredited entity for the inspection of construction machinery confirmed by ASAS certification.

How Nasta impacts the surroundings as a buyer, actor, employer, and supplier of machinery, equipment, and services, and how Nasta is impacted in return, is rapidly changing. Significant impacts, opportunities, and risks form a complex picture, and collaboration on good plans becomes more important than ever for both sustainability and financial viability.

The climate and environmental crisis affect us all – whether we try to counteract the drivers, adapt to the effects, or brace for the consequences that may come. Construction and mining machinery emits large amounts of greenhouse gases during production and perhaps ten times as much during use throughout their lifespan. Emissions from our own operations are small in comparison. Nasta has been a leader in the development and introduction of electric construction machinery, driven by active procurement policies from leading actors. Calculations show that even a converted machine will have a favourable greenhouse gas balance after a relatively short time. Extraction and processing of raw materials into finished construction machinery is the second largest source of emissions. Measures to reduce these include ensuring that the machines last as long as possible or are utilized as efficiently as possible. A comprehensive environmental declaration on delivered machines can be prepared upon request from machine owners.
A wetter and wilder climate will mean that construction machinery will have an emergency preparedness function in a different way than before, and climate adaptations will become a larger part of our customers’ operations. This activity will bring emergency preparedness challenges, safety challenges such as landslide risks, but also business opportunities.

Air, water, and soil pollution are not material consequences of Nasta’s operations. All machines delivered by Nasta are equipped with purification technology in accordance with European standards. All waste, including hazardous waste, is sorted at source (83% in 2024), and we always look for recycling opportunities. Waste water oil separators are operated and maintained according to guidelines provided by authorities. Procedures for waste management, including hazardous waste such as used oil, are followed, and measures to reduce the risk of spills are implemented. Machines are used in everything from sensitive nature to organic farmland, and procedures must be robust in relation to the varying situations we encounter. Air pollution is a significant challenge for our suppliers and customers and has been for the past decades. Changed perceptions of land use and land restoration may have commercial impacts.

Nasta customers and users are our main focus. Since we work closely with our customers, we receive feedback quickly if something does not meet expectations. Construction machinery is used to build society’s infrastructure and therefore has significant utility, while the environmental consequences of actions can have a negative effect from a third-party perspective. Nasta has procedures for communication and notification. Our employees may find themselves in situations where actors in the value chain are involved in controversial projects. This can be challenging both in terms of business operations and safety. The system for reporting, incidents, hazardous conditions, and deviations will ensure that such situations are assessed, and any necessary measures are implemented.
Business conduct
Nasta committ to be trustworthy. We adhere to laws and regulations and avoid bribery and anti-competitive agreements. We work closely with our suppliers to ensure that violations of human rights and breaches of the prohibition against child labor do not occur. Nasta respects the Oslo model to combat labor market crime and social dumping.
Nasta collaborates with:

Water and marine resources are not material issues that Nasta works with in its own operations. Nasta delivers and maintains a large number of machines used as loading and unloading equipment for bulk ships, but procedures and equipment adapted to other operations are considered appropriate. We expect that shipping will be an environmentally friendly and resource-efficient mode of operation for our customers and will be a significant commercial opportunity for Nasta.

Biodiversity and ecosystems are not material issues in Nasta’s own operations. Restoration of nature, such as arable land, streams and rivers, wetlands, forests and bogs, is expected to become more common tasks for Nasta’s customers and could become a significant commercial opportunity. Good procedures to avoid pollution will be a fundamental factor in being an attractive partner in this type of assignment.

Resource and circular economy: Moderation is a company value at Nasta. Respect for resources – using them wisely and working with reuse – is something we already do. We aim to improve further. Service contracts ensure that the machines are as fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly as possible, rentals ensure better utilization of the machinery fleet, and the circular program Zircular can double the lifespan of machines. Machines connected to telematics with the communication platforms Hitachi LandCROS Connect, ABAX, and Bell Fleetm@tic assist machine owners in better machine utilization (open API). Our Special Applications department helps our customers get machines that are even better suited to unique tasks.

Nasta Employees are exposed to a varied and complex risk landscape. Therefore, we work systematically to analyse and discuss incidents and hazardous conditions: as an organization and as individuals, we must learn from the mistakes made and implement plans and measures for a safer future.
Nasta operates in an industry that has historically been male-dominated, and it is challenging to fill all positions with qualified personnel. In the future, Nasta must become better at attracting employees from a broader spectrum.
Perhaps the most important safety factors are knowledge, training, and attitudes. We work on education and are proud of our many qualified skilled workers who continuously receive the latest expertise. Nasta is an approved training company and regularly has candidates taking their trade exams. Nasta School offers both physical and digital training, and our individual CVs are continuously updated – including with the competencies our customers require from us. Our mechanics have the necessary documented and certified training required, and we have HSE identification cards and work with crew lists in HMSREG.
The welfare of employees at suppliers, partners, and customers concerns us, and we include subcontractors in our own HSE system. Please see our information regarding the Norwegian Transparency Act.

Her får du svar på spørsmål rundt samsvarserklæringer og CE-merking. Nasta mottar svært mange spørsmål om samsvarserklæringer og CE-merking. Det skyldes to forhold:
Vibrasjon i anleggsmaskiner
